Merimbula and its pristine environment, the heart of the Sapphire Coast.
A place where you can relax, reconnect with family or release your inner child. Jump off Merimbula Wharf; float with the tide at Bar Beach, kayak on Top Lake and surf the break at Main Beach. Or for those who’ve exhausted their beach time, a trip to Magic Mountain or Potoroo Palace is a wonderful day out.
One of the best places in the region to enjoy our famed local produce, Merimbula is home to a wide selection of cafes and restaurants all offering up the best of our local fare. Dulcie’s, Wheelers and Merimbula Wharf are all local institutions whilst an eclectic mix of smaller eateries offer something for everyone. Merimbula shines all year round with fishing, golf and bowls, all ready to complement the beautiful and unspoilt beaches and estuaries on offer.
Pambula town has emerged in recent years as one of the most unique shopping Villages on the Sapphire Coast. Pambula is well-known for its bespoke shops, organic and local produce , bustling brewery and envied village vibe. When you’re done exploring the town, head to Pambula beach and the famous, and so photogenic River mouth. Buckets and spades, fish and chips, sandy feet & salty hair. It’s a simple and perfect way to spend a day. And pack the paddleboard. Hot tip: Visit Pamboola Wetlands, on the edge of the village, on the site of the old racecourse. It’s a bird and wildlife paradise, a great place to walk and a local community project.
Overlooking stunning Twofold Bay, Eden is 100% wow factor, a favourite with boating and fishing enthusiasts and now a major cruise ship destination as well. Wander the town, discover the indigenous stories of the Bundian Way, visit the Eden Killer Whale Museum or jump on a charter boat and explore the rugged coastline from a different perspective. And if you’re a foodie, you’ll love discovering some of the best seafood in the region, straight from the boat. There are plenty of areas of wilderness directly to the south of Twofold Bay, where you can find a beach to have to yourselves.
Tathra is a town that truly embraces its nature. It is also home to the iconic Tathra beach, the historic steamer wharf and some of the most delicious cafes and eateries in the region. In fact, Tathra punches above its weight in just about everything. Make your way back to this beachside town and rediscover family time, be it learning to surf, fishing from the wharf, settling in for the day on Tathra Beach, a lazy cycle to Mogareeka or a bit more adventure tackling the Bundadung Trails.
Take in the stunning views from the brand new Headland Walk, enjoy lunch at the refurbished Tathra Hotel or a beer from their inhouse brewery, drop a line in at Kianinny Bay or hire a SUP board whilst you’re getting your morning coffee in town. And don’t forget Tathra Oysters, some of Australia’s most awarded, and grown right here in pristine local estuaries.
